Porsche Penske Motorsport #

Porsche Penske Motorsport (PPM) is a joint venture between Porsche Motorsport and Team Penske. The motivation behind the partnership is to combine the vehicle engineering knowledge of Porsche with the the trackside expertise of Penske into one organization. Cars competing under the PPM banner will race all across the world, in both IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) and WEC (World Endurance Championship).

PPM is using 2021 and 2022 to design and develop the prototype ahead of its race debut in 2023.

LMDh #

The LMDh category is quite open in its rules, but PPM has opted for a large-capacity twin-turbo V8 unit designed to run on renewable fuels. Additionally, the car is equiped with a sophisticated hybrid system, components for which are supplied by Williams Advanced Engineering (battery), Bosch (motor-generator unit and control electronics) and Xtrac (transmission).

LMP2 #

In parallel to testing the Porsche LMDh, in 2022 Team Penske is competing for the first time in World Endurnace Championship as preperation for 2023. Team Penske is racing an Oreca 07 LMP2. The LMP2 is a spec series - everyone runs the same car - so the distinction comes from car setup and execution of the race. The LMP2 also uses a distinct set of tools and systems to the Porsche.
